Nail Surgery
Service Description
On the day of your appointment: · Please bring an up to date prescription if you are prescribed any medication from your GP · Bring loose fitting footwear to wear after the procedure; this will allow room for dressings from the surgery to protect the toe · Make transport arrangements to get home. You will be able to walk after the surgery, but you should rest the foot as much as possible. We strongly advise that you do not drive home after surgery, as the local anaesthetic (LA) can take up to 3 or 4 hours to wear off and the effects of LA can void your car insurance · If you are under 16 years of age, an appropriate adult must consent to the procedure and must also be in attendance for the duration of the nail surgery · The whole appointment will last for approximately 1 hour, which includes: an assessment, injection of LA, nail surgery, dressing, post-surgery advice · It is strongly advised that you attend the clinic for two redressing appointments after nail surgery (redressing appointments are charged at the current dressing rate). The time between these appointments will be at the discretion of the podiatrist and you may need to attend for more than two appointments if the wound takes longer to heal.
