Verruca Treatments
Service Description
No verruca treatment is guaranteed to be successful. After gaining your consent, one or more of the following interventions will be applied to the verruca / verrucae, using the clinical judgment of your podiatrist: • Cryospray • 75% or 95% silver nitrate • 60% or 70% salicylic acid • Monochloroacetic acid • Verrutop The purpose of all verruca treatments is to cause minor trauma and encourage a response from your immune system to fight the verruca, which is caused by the human papilloma virus. After treatment, it is normal to experience slight discomfort over the first few days and you should try to keep the verruca / verrucae dry for 48 to 72 hours. Although rare, adverse reactions can occur, which can include: • Severe discomfort or throbbing • Discolouration or redness • Swelling If any of these signs or symptoms occur, soak the area in salty warm water to neutralise the solution used on the verruca / verrucae (as a guideline, use one tablespoon of salt to one pint of water) and contact clinic or your GP as soon as possible. Please ensure that you attend all of your appointments; if you are unable to attend, please give at least 24 hours notice and an alterative appointment will be made. Please be aware that a routine appointment charge may be made if there are numerous verrucae to treat within one treatment session. For any further information or to find out about our Verruca Needling service, please speak to your podiatrist.
